Back To School
Back to School
As summer is winding down, now is the time that parents are getting ready for their children to go back to school. This means shopping for school! Normally at this point in the year, I am doing the same thing as everyone else. I usually spend some time scouring the newspaper ads to see who has what on sale and when. Being on a budget makes this almost a necessity. However, this year is different for us. I started homeschooling my girls in the middle of the year last year. I kept requesting that my oldest daughter be moved up to the next level of math and they kept fighting me on it. So I pulled both of my girls out and we tried the homeschooling thing. Now I know it’s not for everyone and we had an extremely difficult time adjusting to being around each other all of the time. But we made it work and eventually got into a groove. By the time, the girls had to take their end of year test, Skittles (the 13 year old) had completed all of the algebra lessons and was right on par with her best friend that was in 8th grade going through algebra. So we went through the test. Skittles did really well with handling the structure of the time limits since she had been through the standardize testing in public school. However, she was nervous about her scores. Roughly a week later, I received notification that her scores had been posted. I was so happy she was already in bed when the results came through. The girl scored 98% overall with mastery being in math.
So while you all are going store to store to get the supplies and clothes that your children need, I’m scouring the internet and library looking for resources to get a jump start on geometry. I have lots of new items that I will be releasing over the next few weeks. So be sure to check back often and see what new items have been posted. Many of our products are great resources for strengthening skills that children learn in school.
